Fitzcarraldo; Werner Herzog; 1982

Starring Klaus Kinski, Claudia Cardinale, José Lewgoy

Herzog is one of the great film directors with an epic and  profound vision which is often compelling depicted in extraordinary  cinematography and narrative. This, one of his masterpieces,   is included in this list because the rivers Amazon and Ucayali (a tributary of the Amazon), form much of the setting and plot, and are the focus of many amazing shots. Amazon river living native Indians – the Ashininka-Campa Indians  of Gran Pajonal - play central roles in the film and are thanked in the credits at the start. (You'll see why if you watch it!!).
