Thought I'd start a thread about the Spring Gathering weekend. Please feel free to add your own stories/feedback

I came along to 'Beached: the Final Landing' on Thursday and 'Stories, Songs, Science and the Sea' on Sunday, both were well attended

Thursday was a lovely peaceful evening, starting with a walk starting from Ynyslas visitor centre in the sand dunes, along the sandy estuary and the edge of the salt marsh, to the mouth of the Leri to raise a toast to the river, listen to poems and hear some of the history and archeology of shipwrecked boats found at the mouth of the river. Then we returned to the visitor centre to hear about Jane and Gwilym's story of their journey along the length of the Leri, including interviews with local people, poems and songs. It was a busy evening, the visitor centre was so full that we ran out of chairs

Sunday was another beautiful day and we set out for walk in the sunshine along Borth beach to hear stories, poems and songs about the mysterious lands of 'Plant Rhys Dwfen' and ‘Maes Gwyddno' (also known as Cantref Gwaelod). In the afternoon we created pictures on a long piece of paper for an Appalachian crankie - a series of images, on a long piece of paper/material which is placed on a frame and turned to move from one image to the next. The wooden frame of our crankie came from local sources - it was made by a local carpenter out of wood from old Borth sea defences and driftwood from the beach. In the evening, the stories, songs and poems from the morning were repeated, this time with the crankie providing illustrations. Once again, the event was very popular, and our room at the Borth youth hostel was full.

I really enjoyed both events and we seemed to have a good mix of people from around the local area, as well as some from further afield. Sunday's event attracted people from places including Welshpool, Lampeter and even someone from Milton Keynes

I have attached a couple of photos of the crankie from Sunday. I have more pictures on my camera from Thursday and Sunday, but have managed to leave it at home today! I will add some more later
